{"id":1749,"date":"2014-11-15T14:28:23","date_gmt":"2014-11-15T13:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oatridge.co.uk\/nic\/?p=1749"},"modified":"2014-11-15T14:30:30","modified_gmt":"2014-11-15T13:30:30","slug":"ski-season-opening-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oatridge.co.uk\/nic\/news\/ski-season-opening-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Ski Season Opening 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, the ski season has well and truly opened, with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/zermatt.php\" title=\"Zermatt - simply the best ski resort in the world\" target=\"_blank\">Zermatt<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/saas-fee.php\" title=\"Saas-Fee ski and snowboard resort\" target=\"_blank\">Saas-Fee<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/davos.php\" title=\"Davos ski resort\" target=\"_blank\">Davos-<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/klosters.php\" title=\"klosters ski area\" target=\"_blank\">Klosters<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/flims.php\" title=\"Flim\/Laax Snowboard Resort\" target=\"_blank\">Flims\/Laax<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/verbier.php\" title=\"Verbier Ski Resort\" target=\"_blank\">Verbier<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/stmoritz.php\" title=\"St Moritz ski resort\" target=\"_blank\">St Moritz<\/a> and even low-lying <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swisswintersports.co.uk\/gstaad.php\" title=\"Gstaad Ski Resort\" target=\"_blank\">Gstaad<\/a> open, if only partially. Locals say this is the heaviest November dump in living memory, and the snow conditions are so good that even some resort runs are open, e.g. Verbier. Of course, the avalanche risk is also high and in some areas the snow cover hasn&#8217;t formed a good base over the rocks and meadows below, but it is a promising start. My wife is down in Sierre and Sion home-hunting today, within site of working lifts&#8230; and I am in the Netherlands being an ice hockey dad!
